About Masterson Opticians

Meet The Staff.

Séamus O’Rourke BSc(Hons)

Séamus graduated from the University of Ulster in 2007 and moved to England to complete his pre-registration year in Gateshead with Vision Express. He moved back to Northern Ireland the following year and worked as a mobile optometrist with Vision Express until July 2010 when he again made the move across the water to Oxfordshire and worked with Scrivens until May 2013. He then moved Boots Opticians and worked with them from May 2013 until March 2019. Whilst working for Boots, he supervised Pre-Reg Optometrists, worked as interim Manager and as part of Boots Professional Services for 3 years. Following a deep seeded desire to move back home he purchased Masterson Opticians along with his wife Dearbháil in April 2019 and began the most exciting journey in his optical career- owning their own business. Séamus has been appointed to the BSO Ophthalmic Committee as a representative for the Southern Trust.

In his (very limited) spare time, Séamus enjoys spending time with his children and showing them around his parents’ farm. He has a keen interest in rare breed animals.

Dearbháil also works in the Belfast Trust in the Regional Cataract Clinic and the Glaucoma Service.
